🛣️ How to Become a CFP in India?
You can pursue the CFP certification through FPSB India, which offers two pathways:
Regular Pathway: For students after Class 12th.
Challenge Status Pathway: For experienced professionals like CAs, MBAs, etc.
As a student, you’ll opt for the Regular Pathway, which includes classroom or online learning from an FPSB-authorized education provider, followed by exams.
📋 Eligibility Criteria for CFP in India (Regular Pathway)
Must have completed Class 12th from a recognized board.
No upper age limit.
Basic knowledge of mathematics, economics, and communication is helpful.
You must complete the FPSB’s education program before taking final exams.
📚 Certified Financial Planning (CFP) Course Curriculum
FPSB India will have a total of four certification exams in India (assessing the competencies of the three specialist courses and the culminating CFP certification marks), leading to CFP certification in India.
FPSB India has structured the pathway to CFP certification in India as follows:
Candidates have to first complete the three specialist certification exams:
FPSB Investment Planning Specialist
FPSB Retirement and Tax Planning Specialist
FPSB Risk and Estate Planning Specialist
Upon completing these three specialist certifications, candidates can enroll in the FPSB Integrated Financial Planning Course (which includes a financial plan assessment) and then sit for the CFP exam. Successful candidates who also meet the experience requirement are eligible to be certified as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) professional in India.
